About

Ed Peters didn’t always want to be a photographer. He has an early memory of being given a camera by his mother to photograph a primary school field trip, but he can’t remember using a camera for anything else until he was almost thirty years old. At that time a friend showed him  the work of some well known photographers, and also introduced him to camera fundamentals and the darkroom.

Soon he was doing freelance jobs for local newspapers, and shortly afterwards he was given a staff position. Later he joined a photo agency, and began to photograph topical news stories . These stories included the plight of Burmese refugees, war in the Balkans, and famine in Somalia.

As time passed, however, Ed became less interested in documenting current events. Inspired by the work of  artists in multiple art forms, he now focuses on long term projects that allow him to interpret the world from a more personal perspective.
